Poems to be in English on the theme: Magna Carta.

There are two categories (age as at September 4 2015):
Category 1: adults (19 years and over).
Category 2: 18 years and under.

Prizes:
a) Category 1 - 1st prize £200, 2nd prize £100, 3rd prize £50.
b) Category 2 - 1st prize £85, 2nd prize £45, 3rd prize £20.

Each entry must be accompanied by a completed entry form:
a) using the webform at www.ealingautumnfestival.co.uk. If your poem has an unusual layout, email an additional copy of the poem(s) as a pdf to info@ealingautumnfestival.co.uk so that the layout is clear.
b) sent by post (2 copies of each poem) using a hard copy entry form. Ask at your local library in Ealing or by request from info@ealingautumnfestival.co.uk or by writing to Ealing Autumn Festival, 76 Milton Road, London W7 1LE, enclosing a stamped, addressed envelope.

Entry fees are:
a) Category 1: £5.50 for one poem, £2.50 for additional poems (maximum 4 in total).
b) Category 2: first poem free, £2.50 for additional poems (maximum 4 in total).

Entry fees are to be paid:
a) via PayPal by logging in at www.paypal.com.
Choose: "Pay for goods or services".
Payment should be made to: info@ealingautumnfestival.co.uk. Use a credit/debit card or your own PayPal account;
b) by cheque/postal order payable to West London Arts Scene Limited and drawn on a UK bank. This must reach us by the closing date: Friday 4th September by 5.00pm.

Please pay the correct amount for your entry. Your entry will not be accepted if you have not made the correct payment!

No payment is needed if one poem ONLY is entered in Category 2.

Maximum length of each poem: 40 lines.

Online entries will be acknowledged by email.

Poem(s) sent by post must be on one side of an A4 sheet, two copies of each poem. The entrant’s name MUST NOT appear on the same sheet as the poem.

Poems entered by post will not be returned – keep a copy for yourself!

Postal entries will not be acknowledged unless accompanied by a stamped, addressed envelope marked “acknowledgement of entry”.

Each poem must be the original work of the entrant and should not have been previously published, accepted for publication or entered in another competition.

Copyright of each poem remains with the author but the Ealing Autumn Festival (West London Arts Scene Limited) reserves the right to have the winning poems performed and/or published in connection with the competition as it deems appropriate.

The competition will be judged by George Szirtes whose decision is final. No correspondence or other communication will be entered into.

The Festival reserves the right to change the judge if necessary.

Prizes will not be awarded if the Festival feels that this is justified for any reason. The judge may also highly commend entries, at his discretion.

Winners will be announced and prizes presented by the judge on Sunday 11 October 2015. Selected poets will be invited to read their poems. Entrants wishing to be advised of the results should send a stamped, addressed envelope marked “results” or visit www.ealingautumnfestival.co.uk after October 11th 2015.

Entrants will be disqualified if they do not comply with the rules of the competition.

Poems, with completed entry forms and full payment, must be received not later than Friday 4th September 2015 5.00pm.
